Early in 2006, I proposed and received funding for a “New Technologies” project. Funding is provided by the Australian Government Quality Teacher’s Program and the Association of Independent Schools Victoria.
- This project looks at the potential of using Web 2.0 and other new technology tools such as blogs, wikis, blokis or blikis, podcasts, vidcasts, screencasts, Google Earth, GPS, Interactive White Boards (IWB), Videoconferencing in the classroom.
- This project has seen (will see) Ivanhoe Grammar School participate in:
- several Professional Development sessions using videoconferencing across IP (with more to come)
- a think-tank for educational leaders and other interested staff at the school
- our first (upcoming) classroom excursion via videoconference (thanks ReefEd)
- Forming our first “Technology User Group” with other local schools on the use of IWB’s in the classroom
- upcoming Professional Development on the uses of podcasting for Lower Primary, Languages Other Than English (LOTE) and Music teachers
- development of Screencasts for student downloads
As a result of this project, I will be purchasing new equipment (iPod Video, GPS) to play with and develop new resources.
